Closely coupled with the operation and support of simulation and training system products, Rockwell Collins professionals
plan and conduct formal academic training, continuation training, and training device instruction for military aviation systems.
Rockwell Collins currently delivers instructional services and related courseware development support to the U.S. Air Force
Air Combat Command for the B-1B and B-52H weapon systems, and the F-4G in support of FMS training for the German Air Force.
Academic instruction includes lesson material preparation and classroom instruction, remedial training, and monitoring of
computer-based, self-paced instruction on a wide range of topics including: Aircraft General, Navigation/Communication, Sensor
Systems, Munitions, Ground Attack and Air-to-air combat Tactics, Dissimilar Air Combat Training (DACT) and Mission Employment.
Rockwell Collins instructors also perform aircrew training on a broad spectrum of simulation training devices including Cockpit
Procedure Trainers, Part Task Trainers, Mission System Trainers, and Weapon System Trainers.
Rockwell Collins employs an automated Training Management Process to track student progress, instructor and resource availability,
courseware development status, and the overall quality of instruction. Academic program content, courseware, and training
device instructional curricula is held to strict configuration management and quality standards with built in mechanisms for
periodic performance assessment review and product improvements.
Courseware Development (CWD) consists of a systematic process to analyze design and produce new and revised computer based
automated courseware used by students for self-paced instruction. Computer Based Training (CBT) materials are used to augment
academic lessons, and can be used by a student in a self-paced lesson without instructor oversight.
Rockwell Collins courseware process and performance standards are based on the current U.S. Air Force model for Instructional
System Development (ISD) defined in AFM 36-2234 and AFH 36-2235. Rockwell Collins teams employ platform specific ISD Management
Plans to guide their actions in developing, reviewing and revising courseware for a given program. Rockwell Collins personnel
develop and incorporate computer-based training (CBT) into the planned curricula using state-of-the-art computer animations,
graphics, photos, video and multi-media audio to enhance instruction quality and increase student interest and learning. Some
of the CBT lessons include interactive courseware to allow the student to interact with the learning environment through the
use of keyboards, buttons or touch sensitive technologies. Rockwell Collins courseware systems utilize the latest commercial
PC hardware technologies and software toolsets to produce highly effective, cost efficient, and supportable CBT modules.
